The Sikkim Himalayas reigns
supreme in terms of beauty and magnificence. In
the southwestern part of Sikkim, in the main
Himalayan range, lies the majestic Kanchenjunga,
the third highest peak in the world, rising to a
staggering height of 28, 208 ft above sea level.
Other challenges include Kabru, Kirat Chulior
Tent Peak and Sinolchu. |

River Rafting |

From gentle rides through
amazing mountain landscape to thundering rapids
that only the most experienced rafter can
navigate, river rafting on the Teesta can be the
most adrenaline pumping adventure ever. Graded
on the International scale at Grade 4, the river
provides a series of whitewater rapids with
various intensities at regular intervals. |

Kayaking is undertaken on the River Teesta
and is arranged for special groups. Some
experience in kayaking is required. Kayaks are
available with Sikkim Tourism. |

Yak Safari |

Yak Safari is becoming an
increasingly popular and exciting way to
experience Sikkim. You can take a yak ride
around the ethereally beautiful Tsomgo Lake, 35
km from Gangtok. The Tourism Department as well
as private travel agencies on prior booking also
organize Yak Safaris in Dzongri, in West Sikkim,
a popular trekking point. |
